Nancy Johnson
Dr Johnson has been practicing as a mental health counselor since 2003. This is her second career after spending 23 years in full-time ministry. Nancy received her Master of Arts degree from Reformed Theological Seminary and completed a doctoral degree in education in counseling psychology to better equip her as a family specialist. Nancy has experience working with diverse populations, including children, teens, adults, and couples on a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, conflict and spirituality. She absolutely loves what she does with family therapy and has found that when treating troubled teens, working with the entire family has brought about optimal results.
Besides the family work that she has done, her current passion is to work with individuals who have experienced trauma, exploring their stories together and finding a safe place to heal. Nancy counsels from a Relational Model, holding to the core belief that an individual cannot heal or grow outside the context of significant and meaningful relationships. Nancy has a gift of creating a safe place for people to process their pain, as well as being able to bond with clients in meaningful ways. Nancy is working on partnering with an equine therapist to provide a unique opportunity and intervention in the healing process for those who may find it beneficial.
Nancy has three grown sons and two granddaughters and spends her free time playing tennis, hiking, reading and enjoying coffee with friends.
